Our First Gathering | September 19, 2026 What a wonderful evening we had at our very first Soul Nights! We gathered with around 40 people for an evening of fellowship, laughter, good food, and meaningful conversations. Thank you to everyone who came and helped make this first gathering so special! A Night of Connection We played volleyball, jumbo Jenga, and corn-hole, shared some good food, and spent time getting to know our brothers and sisters in Christ. What a joy to see new connections and friendships beginning to form! The Heart Behind Soul Nights We also took time to share why Soul Nights exists. Our desire is to see single adults in their 20s and 30s flourish and thrive in Christ, growing in spiritual maturity, embracing the present season with joy and purpose, and actively serving God's Kingdom. We were reminded that singleness is not a waiting room. We are called to faithfully follow Jesus and live fully for Him in whatever season we find ourselves. The goal is not marriage. The goal is Jesus. One of the highlights of the evening was our panel discussion, where we explored God's calling, faithfulness, identity in Christ, surrender, and finding our satisfaction in Jesus. People were engaged and asked thoughtful, honest questions about relationships, contentment in singleness, navigating disappointment, church culture, and trusting God when life does not go as we hoped. We were especially encouraged to see the conversation extend beyond the panel to everyone gathered in the audience. Two questions that captured some of these conversations were: How do we continue trusting Jesus through disappointment and seasons of waiting? How do we balance contentment in singleness with the desire to pursue marriage? One of our panelists shared an illustration that really stayed with us: We cannot fit the ocean into a cup, but we can surrender the cup to the ocean. In the same way, rather than simply asking for more of God, we are invited to give more of ourselves to Him. What a beautiful reminder that following Jesus is a life of surrender. Whatever season we find ourselves in, we are invited to seek Him, trust Him, and give ourselves fully to Him. At the end of the evening, we were invited to reflect on how God might be calling us to grow in this season, whether through community and friendship, mentorship and discipleship, service and ministry, stewardship and obedience, or spending more intentional time in God's presence and His Word. We were encouraged to consider one practical step we could take in response. So, how is God inviting you to respond in this season? Our hope is that Soul Nights would be more than a quarterly gathering. We want to become a community of disciples who are actively growing in our relationship with Jesus, serving Him, and encouraging one another along the way. At the end of the evening, we were invited to reflect on five areas of our lives: Community & Friendship | Mentorship & Discipleship | Service & Ministry | Stewardship & Obedience | Presence & Study We each had an opportunity to consider what the Lord might be highlighting in our lives and one practical step we could take in response. So, we would love to ask you again: What do you feel God is calling you into more of? Have you taken a step toward that since we gathered? Is there someone who could encourage you or walk alongside you? We'd Love to Hear From You? What were you grateful for from our first gathering? Sunday School is back in FULL swing!
How GREAT is Our God! ONE80 Sunday School relaunched on September 13th and it has been SUCH a sweet start to the school year.! This last Sunday we explored week 4 of a 10 week series called “WOW, How Great is Our God?”. The emphasis over this next 10 weeks is to lean into the wonder and AWE of God as we learn more about His Character. Each week, we are focusing on an aspect of God’s Nature. Here are some topics we are learning about: God is Creator - WOW! God is a Just Judge and Jesus took the punishment for what we deserve God is LOVE and His love is perfect God hates sin because it separates us from Him God is Eternal: The Alpha and the Omega, The First and the Last, The Beginning and the End Thank you for partnering with us in praying that as our kids fall even MORE in love with The Lord as they learn who He is! “Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” - Psalm 100:1-5 ESV

Your lunch, their lives.
Well, Oceanside, you did it again. Last Sunday, after both services, we fired up the BBQ in the parking lot at Nanaimo Christian School. The burgers had no price, and you gave what you could. Did we reach our goal? Yes. Far exceeded. We raised $28,991 That's enough to cover all of it: the school supplies and university fees for the children at Grace Orphanage and Hopes Uganda. It's a big number, but it's made of burgers, e-transfers, and people who wanted a kid they'll never meet to have a good year at school. Thank you. We want to tell you about one of those kids. Riziki was found on the street at age 9. Today she's a qualified seamstress with a small business of her own, and she'll be making this year's school uniforms. Two other girls from Grace are learning the trade alongside her. That's what a good education can do, and it's why we do this. Oceanside has been supporting Grace Orphanage for many years. It's one of those relationships that doesn't make a lot of noise, but it's part of who we are. Following Jesus has always looked like noticing the kids nobody else is looking out for, and doing something about it. That's exactly what you did on Sunday. A few more thank-yous. To the Elders, for giving us the opportunity. To the team who set up, grilled, served, and cleaned up. To Johann Van Rensburg and everyone at iWOF, who've spent twelve years making sure this money reaches the kids. And to every one of you who came out, gave, or told a friend. Ministry Evening with Ken Grenfell
Thursday, October 22 & Friday, October 23 · 7–9 PM
Departure Bay Baptist Church, 3510 Departure Bay Rd If you lead or serve at Oceanside, these two evenings are for you. We're setting aside time this October to learn together what it means to lead in step with the Holy Spirit. Ken Grenfell is joining us again from Virginia. He's been a familiar face in our church for the last 20 years, and he's known for his prophetic gifting. He brings both a deep understanding of the Holy Spirit's work and a lived example of it. Our leaders come from many different backgrounds and church experiences, and that's a gift. For these two nights, we'll open God's Word together, stay open to what the Spirit is doing, and ask Him for more of His gifts at work when we gather. Each evening will include teaching, time for your questions, practical examples, and a time of ministry together. We'd love to see you at both nights. Everyone is welcome to join us.

My Bible Reading Journey re-launch!
‘My Bible Reading Journey’ launches for the 2026/2027 school year next Sunday October 4, 2026. Last year we launched ‘My Bible Reading Journey’ for the very first time. Over 120 kids signed up for their very own log book, and we saw kids from as young as 2 years old signing up for the journey and engaging in bible reading. The results were so exciting: Families were working through books of the bible together and a few children averaged more than 2 books a month! We believe the Bible, is the inspired Word of God and serves as the final authority for what we believe and how we live, and to see our young children eagily devouring these pages, is amazing! In Proverbs 22:6 it says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when his is old, he will not depart from it.” Teaching our children to read the bible and hide these treasures in their heart (Psalm 119:11), is laying solid foundations for the rest of their lives. My Bible reading journey is a small log book, beautifully designed for kids, that allows you to cross off chapters of the bible as you read them. This allows our kids to track their reading and to see their progress in reading the bible. Once a month we open our prize table, and children can redeem each book read, with a prize from either our ‘short book’ prize tote, ‘medium book’ prize tote, and ‘large book’ prize tote. Some of our ONE80 kids are on track to finish the bible the year! How amazing!!! We re-launch My Bible Reading Journey on October 4. If you have not signed your child up please do so at the ‘My Bible Reading Journey’ table, situated behind the check-in desk, between 10:00am and 10:30am. Children who signed up last year, do not need to sign up again: keep reading the bible and logging your progress in your log books. The Prize totes will also be out on October 4, so children can come and redeem the books that they have read over the summer. So excited to see our kids falling in love with God’s word!
