Visiting a church for the first time can feel like a big step. We know it takes courage to walk through unfamiliar doors. Whether you’ve never been to church before, it’s been years since you’ve been, or you’re simply curious about Jesus, you’re welcome here.
What Does Sunday Look Like?
We gather every Sunday in Nanaimo at 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM.
A typical service lasts about 90 minutes and includes live worship through music, teaching from the Bible, and time to reflect, pray, and respond. No two Sundays are exactly the same, but our focus always is: helping people know Jesus and follow Him.
We recommend arriving about 15 minutes early to find parking, grab a free coffee, and meet a few friendly faces before the service begins.
What about my kids?
Kids are an important part of Oceanside. Our ONE80 Kids team provides safe, engaging, age-appropriate environments where children can learn about Jesus, build friendships, and have fun along the way.
If it’s your first visit, one of our volunteers will be happy to help you get your family checked in and answer any questions you have.
Questions people often ask
What time are your services?
Services begin at 8:30am and 10:30am on Sundays at Nanaimo Christian School. We also livestream our 10:30 service.
Can I just come and observe?
Absolutely. You’re welcome to participate as much or as little as you’d like.
Do you have services for kids?
Yes! We have Sunday School for kids anywhere from age 1 to 12. We have a self-service Mother’s Room open and available during the whole service with a livestream of our service. Our kids get dismissed after worship to go to their ministries. We also have a Parents & Tots room for little ones who need a little bit more room to move.
Will I be asked to stand up or introduce myself?
No. We want you to feel comfortable. You won’t be singled out or asked to do anything you’re not comfortable with.
How long do services typically last?
Our worship services typically last for about 90 minutes. 30 minutes of singing and worship is followed by a teaching and an invitation for prayer. Don’t be shy to linger a little longer after the service - we have free coffee!
What should I wear?
Whatever you’re comfortable in. You’ll see everything from jeans and hoodies to button-up shirts. There’s no dress code.
We do recommend shoes.
Where do I park?
Parking is available in the main parking lot of Nanaimo Christian School, the lower parking lot, along Holland Rd, and along Jingle Pot Road. Watch for no-parking zones along streets, as there are a few driveways around.
Is your church accessible?
We have made sure that our building is accessible for people of all different abilities. Nanaimo Christian School is wheelchair accessible, and we have options for those with hearing impairments.
What denomination is the church affiliated with?
We are a non-denominational church who partners with New Covenant Ministries International (NCMI), a global team of experienced church leaders who serve and strengthen local churches around the world.
NCMI is not a governing organization. Instead, they relationally come alongside eldership teams with encouragement, wisdom, training, and accountability, helping churches remain healthy, effective, and faithful to the mission of Jesus.
Oceanside is an autonomous, self-governing church, is voluntarily partnered with NCMI, valuing apostolic input, relational support, and shared commitment to making disciples and advancing God’s Kingdom.
Can I watch services online if I can’t attend in person?
Absolutely! If for any reason you can’t make our in-person service, you can always watch it live or watch it back here on our YouTube channel.
