Our society is not neutral. It is filled with secular evangelists, preaching salvation through identity, self-expression, and autonomy. "Love is love." "Be who you are." "Born this way." These are more than slogans—they are mantras of a modern religion. And while the Christian message used to be ignored, it is now often maligned—called harmful, regressive, or even evil.

What makes the hope inside Christian testimony so peculiar—and why does it matter now more than ever?

1st Peter 3;15 says; “Always be prepared to give an answer for the hope that is in you…” But what if that hope seems strange—even offensive—to the world around us?

In this timely message we unpack the call to witness from 1st Peter—a letter written by an apostle facing the shadow of martyrdom, addressed to believers about to enter the fires of persecution. The context is raw, the stakes are high, and the wisdom Peter offers is profoundly relevant to Christians navigating a modern secular world.

So how do we testify in a world like this?

Andy walks through six key dimensions of testimony in 1 Peter:

Proclamation – Our testimony must be tangible
Peculiar-Hope – Our hope is otherworldly and anchored in resurrection
Protest – We will be misunderstood, even hated, for our hope
Posture – We respond with gentleness and respect
Person – Testimony centred on Jesus Himself
Potential – Every story of grace carries the aroma of Christ to someone in need

Whether you're sharing your story with a neighbour, raising kids in a confusing world, or simply trying to live faithfully in your workplace or school, this sermon will encourage you to see your life as a living testimony of resurrection hope.

1 Peter 1:3 (ESV) – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead

Main Texts: 1 Peter 3;14–16, 1 Peter 1;3, Acts 1;8, John 4;39
